Horror Roleplay Prompts: Prompt Ideas to Try

Horror roleplay prompts build suspense by controlling what the characters know. Choose a setting, a strange but observable clue, and one limit on the threat. You can make a scene unsettling without graphic violence; specify the intensity you want before starting.

Prompt: the station announcement

“Play a night custodian at a nearly empty train station. The announcement system calls my character by a name they have never used here, then gives the wrong platform number. You recognize the voice but cannot remember where from. Describe one detail in the station that changes after the announcement and ask whether I want to check the control room or leave. Keep the horror atmospheric and non-graphic.”

Prompt: the photograph in the attic

“You are my cousin helping sort boxes in an old attic. We find a group photograph with one person scratched out, and the empty space is warm to the touch. Tell me what you remember about the house, then let me choose whether to examine the back of the photo or ask the current owner.”

Build dread one clue at a time

Ask the bot to keep a consistent rule for the threat and reveal only one new clue per reply. If the scene becomes too intense, pause the story or restate your limits.
