Detective mystery prompts are more satisfying when they give you evidence to examine, not just a detective who announces the answer. Choose a small case and ask the bot to distinguish fact from theory.

Prompt: the mislabeled painting

“Play an art conservator helping me investigate a painting returned to the wrong gallery. Its label is correct, but the back has a date that predates the artist’s known work. Describe three details we can verify, suggest two possible explanations, and ask which record I want to check first.”

Prompt: the note in the returned book

“You are a librarian who finds a note tucked inside a book returned after twenty years. The note contains a room number, not a name. Tell me what the lending record can confirm, what it cannot, and ask whether we should look for the room or trace the book’s earlier borrower.”

Keep a list of clues and ask the character to explain which detail supports each theory.
