RPG Quest Prompts: Kick-Start Your Chat

RPG quest prompts need an objective, a reward or consequence, and a complication that cannot be solved by following a checklist. Give the bot the role of party member, quest giver, or rival, then make sure your character still has choices.

Prompt: recover the village bell

“Play a local guide asking our party to recover a bell taken from the hilltop shrine. The bell is not valuable, but the village uses its sound to coordinate during storms. Tell me what the villagers know, what remains uncertain, and why you cannot go yourself. Ask whether we want to question the shepherd or inspect the old path first.”

Prompt: the quest reward has changed

“You are a guild clerk who promised payment for a lost parcel. When we return, the recipient says the parcel contains someone else’s letters. Explain the guild’s contract and the ethical problem, then let our party decide whether to hand it over, find the sender, or ask for more information.”

Track the quest between turns

Keep a short party log: objective, clues, supplies, and unresolved decisions. Ask the bot to update it after a major scene.
