Character AI
The best Character AI prompts give a character something specific to do, a reason it matters, and a clear opening for your reply. A long prompt is not automatically a better one; a focused scene is easier to steer. Try the starter below, then replace the setting and conflict with your own idea.
“You are a careful archivist closing a neighborhood museum for the night. I arrive with a photograph of a room that does not appear on the building’s floor plan. Describe one detail in the photo that worries you, explain why your character wants to inspect the basement first, and ask what I notice. Keep the story grounded in clues; do not reveal the answer or decide my actions.”
Swap the archivist for a rival, guide, or witness. Replace the photograph with an object your characters both recognize. Keep one unknown question to drive the next turn. Add a sentence about tone—cozy mystery, tense adventure, or quiet drama—and set boundaries for themes you want excluded.
After the first reply, offer a surprising but relevant detail. If the character incorporates it and asks a useful follow-up, the prompt has room to grow.
